“My biggest takeaway from the Leadership Lancaster program is the importance of teamwork - celebrating the unique backgrounds and perspectives of every team member and how a team can be so much more with all of the skills and differences they bring to the table. We had many experiences that were designed to pull and stretch us out of our comfort zone - meant to help us grow and challenge our existing perspectives. The most unexpected part of this for me is the network of friends from diverse backgrounds I met along the way through these unique moments. We challenged each other constantly, and as one of very few people representing the arts in the group, I felt so grateful to see the value of what I do in a new way and to share my own unique perspective with others. As someone who is not native to Lancaster County, or even PA, I was originally daunted by the wealth of local knowledge, history and generations of business leaders participating in the program. After almost a year in the program, I felt connected to the community in a new way with a better understanding of what it takes to keep our county alive and thriving. Throughout the year we focused on many different kinds of leadership skills - visioning, trusteeship, inclusion, problem solving, coalition and consensus building. Don’t waste a minute of the experience! There are a million ways to be involved in our community and a field of interest for everyone to participate!”
A very big thank you to ATOMIC for making this year possible!
Leadership Lancaster has a motto, (that I'm sure every class takes to heart) that it is the "best class ever." From day one of this incredible experience, I feel like I've been on the best team ever. Day one, we took home the prize with our tallest tower of spaghetti and marshmallows... and then taking on the challenging topic of hunger in Lancaster County throughout the year. Today we presented our findings and our project and I couldn't have wished for a better group of people to grow alongside this year!
